Charcoal and chalk.

Charcoal and chalk are poor and wild materials, mostly dedicated to sketch and classic drawing. I like to exploit them slightly differently. I like their versatility.
i can get deep blacks and create interesting lights, i can deal with details easily, and draw more roughly on the other part.

What i like is the living, things in movement, a work in progress and when the perfection is flawed.
This raw and diligent aspect, this unfinished look : I give meaning to absence.

This way, I try to make my subjects speak instead of trying to describe them.

This natural vitality that i want to reveal doesn't come from what i draw, but actually come from what i dont draw.
